M.Y CHEN Zuer X RINASCENTE MILAN 2020 CHINIESE NEW YEAR
Q: tell us about your vision of traditional Chinese art and how you reinterpret it.
A: Hmmm I will use interests, explore and a powerful and unconstrained style. To me, Traditional Chinese art is very dignified, elegant and rich. It’s not a past tense but a present tense or progressive tense. My idea of the traditional Chinese art is it always can evolve, combine with contemporary art to create a new art concept and fashion.
Q: colors are the protagonists of your works: why the choice of red color?
A: I really like the color red, it can symbolize the oriental flavor and also a representative color of China. When combine with the Black ink, it can perfectly express the beautiful concept of China. In the traditional Chinese art, usually there aren’t two many colors in an art work, therefore I use the simple red and black in my illustration design to show my works which contain strong Chinese characteristics.
